BeforeAfterCare for the brick.
Respect the character.
Our work brings together brickwork repairs, appropriate repointing and carefully selected cleaning methods. The approach depends on the materials and condition of each property.
From the mortar colour to the joint finish, the details should complement the building rather than stand out for the wrong reasons.
This example is from Cheshire Pointing’s wider portfolio. It is not presented as a Liverpool project.

a considered approach.
Older terraces, period houses and commercial buildings each have their own construction details and repair history. We plan work around the age, condition and materials of your property, retaining sound brickwork wherever practical.
Weathered mortar joints
Loose or missing mortar can leave joints open to wind-driven rain. We assess whether local repairs or more extensive repointing are needed, rather than assuming the whole elevation must be treated.
Unsuitable previous repairs
Hard, cement-rich repairs can be unsuitable for softer historic bricks. We assess the existing masonry and consider compatible lime mortar where appropriate, with colour and finish agreed before work begins.
Staining and damaged bricks
Repointing cannot replace a brick’s damaged face. We consider cleaning, local repairs or replacement separately, using methods appropriate to the brick and its condition.
Repointing is not a cure for every damp problem. Leaks, defective gutters, condensation and other building issues may need separate investigation. Serving Liverpool as part of our Merseyside coverage; our company office details are shown below.

More pointing FAQs ↗How do I know if my brickwork needs repointing?
Signs worth assessing include deeply recessed joints, loose or missing mortar and open cracks. Not every crack or patch of discolouration means the whole wall needs repointing. An assessment helps distinguish local repairs from more extensive work and identify problems that need another repair approach.
Is lime mortar suitable for my property?
Lime mortar can be suitable for many older or traditionally built properties because it allows moisture movement and is generally more flexible than hard cement-rich mortar. Suitability depends on the brick, existing joints, exposure and construction, so the mix and finish should be assessed rather than assumed.
What affects the quotation?
Wall area, joint condition and depth, access, height, brick repairs, cleaning, mortar specification and finish can all affect the scope. Send clear photographs and details of the work you need. We offer a free, no-obligation quotation and discuss any further assessment required.
Will scaffolding be needed?
Some work can use suitable access equipment, while higher or more complex elevations may need scaffolding. This depends on safe, practical access to the areas being repaired and will be discussed as part of the assessment.
What photographs should I send?
Stand well back and photograph the full wall or elevation that needs work. The quotation form requires at least one JPG overview photograph, not a close-up alone. You can upload up to 10 JPG photographs, with each file no larger than 20MB. Include additional views of problem areas where helpful.
